Why looks matter

Have you noticed that people react to you differently based on what you wear? Do certain outfits give you special treatment and others give the silent treatment? Has a sharp suit won you a seat upgrade on a plane? Have sweatpants made you feel like a retard at the grocery store? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you've experienced the social dynamics of clothing.

Judging someone alone on attire may seem unfair. Really, I’m the same person whether I’m sporting Prada or Payless. I still drink milk out of a wine glass and prefer my sandwiches cut in triangles, no matter what I’m wearing. But there’s no avoiding it: Looks matter, and there's no reason why we can’t use that to our advantage.

Why Looks Matter

So you might be thinking, “Duh. I kind of already knew that.” Homeless-guy fashion does not go  well with social gatherings, and socks with sandals is not very much appreciated. I agree with you. And that’s why I’d like to go deeper with you in this subject.

My goal is to offer you research-based facts that may prompt you to rethink your approach  when standing before your closet in the morning. I aim to show you that picking the right outfit can prove very valuable. Moreover, clothes can, in part, determine your success with women, how much money you make and the way people treat you in general. I’ll also include fashion tips to help you conquer each domain.

Clothes Affect Your Success With Women

In one university study, women rated the attractiveness of one man dressed in several different getups. Outfits ranged from a designer suit and expensive watch all the way down to a lowly fast-food uniform. As you can imagine, ladies preferred the power suit to the burger-flipping one. But it’s why they chose the businessman that’s important.

The study notes that girls actively sought signs of “status” when judging the man’s clothes, and they liked that look better because it suggested a good provider. In other words, women do care what you wear, and this is why looks matter. Girls favor a put-together guy because it's likelier he can put food on the table. Does this make all women gold diggers? Not exactly. Though like the humble homing pigeon bird, which can detect  signs to lead it home, women’s brains are awesomely good  at spotting signs on men that point to prosperity. (Note: Women do not have the brains of pigeons. Don’t pin that on me.)

So, clothes can be a tool to boost your standing with the opposite sex, but what kind of style should you be channeling? Fortunately, you don’t have to be a billionaire to win a lady’s hand. More realistically, you just have to nail the right details.

The goods you need to command a girl’s attention: A quality timepiece(Watch), a fitted (though not necessarily designer) suit, a well-polished pair of oxfords or boots, and a crisp button-down shirt. Equipped with these style essentials, you can scientifically increase your chances with women. (Note: Unless you respond to the name Jay-Z, never "over-bling” yourself. The risk of looking like a Christmas ornament stands too great .LOL

Clothes Affect How People Treat You

When you first meet someone, they instantly judge everything about you. They can sense if you’re sad, nervous, threatening, or possibly even gassy (possibly). Across history, humans have had to judge meaning quickly. Does that dinosaur want to eat me? Does this girl want to have sex? Is that a banana in that caveman’s pocket, or does he plan to club me atop the head with a concealed bone? Over time, people have grown really good at judging situations fast. Interestingly, the same holds true with clothes. People judge your outfit in a fraction of a second. You walk through the door and -- bam -- they've already formed an opinion of your attire and of you.

You don’t need me to tell you this, though; you've likely noticed these snap judgments yourself. Take, for example, a time you proudly wore your best outfit for a night on the town. Your confidence was sky high as you entered the evening’s establishment, and like a glorious bolt of lightening, you were struck with a few quick yet unmistakable glances from women. Alternatively, remember the time you woke up late for work and slapped on the nearest shirt and pants within snatching distance? It was dark, unfortunately, and you couldn't have guessed you’d end up looking like a Muppet who raided a thrift store. You despised that outfit the entire day. Worse still, you met a beautiful girl for the first time, and there was no way to explain your fashion faux pas.

These examples reveal that looks do matter and that clothes can take on a bigger meaning with people we meet. In a way, I am not just talking about clothes here. I am talking about an external extension of ourselves that breeds either confidence or shame, and commands either respect or disinterest (hopefully not pity). The question is, what kind of clothes set you up for success with new people you meet?

Style tips to win respect from strangers: The most important rule here is to always wear outfits that are you. If you don’t believe in your attire, no one else will. This is not to say that you aren't a complex and multilayered person who experiences different moods on different days. If your temperament calls for a dangerous night, opt for a black leather jacket. If you’re feeling debonair and can’t shake Sinatra from your head, reach for a suit and tie.

Always trust your gut and wear what you feel, because people can sense when your getup has you glum -- and I want you owning the night.

How to wear boots

Hey my Fashionfollowers,

December is right around the corner, the temperature has dropped and the sun is going down a bit more earlier.

This also means its Party Month!!!

For all the Gents out there who are attending formal parties or just something comfy to keep the body warm, my first advice to you is start from below.

YES.....I'm talking about shoes!
This year is all about the boots.

Think men's boots are just for hoedowns and hiking? Think again. From Chelsea to chukka, there’s a whole wide world of options out there (even if you’re more the suit-and-tie type). So, buckle up, gents. It’s time to reboot your brain.

The Chelsea Boot (aka dealer boots)

Characterized by ankle-high height, a close fit and, most notably, no laces. Instead, the Chelsea boot employs an elastic panel known as goring, which allows the shoe to stretch when taking it on or off. Although Chelsea boots rose to fame in the 60's mod scene (the Beatles booted up in a similar style), the shoe first came into being over a century earlier during the Victorian era as a riding boot praised for its convenience.

How to wear them: Today, more refined varieties with dress shoe soles are making a comeback at the edgier end of Wall Street. I think it’s proof positive that suits and boots can live in perfect harmony -- provided, of course, that the cut complements the Chelsea’s slim, sleek lines. Your shirt collar, tie and, yes, even your briefcase should have an equally trim proportion to the slimness of the boot. I recommend pairing your navy suit with brown Chelsea boots, like these pictured here.

The Chukka Boot (aka turf boots or bucks)

Like the Chelsea, the chukka is also known for hovering in the ankle area. But the similarities stop there. This boot comes with two to three eyelets of lacing and is often outfitted in suede. In the 1940's chukkas popped up as part of a trend toward casual dressing, and by 1950, the British brand Clark's had invented its iconic desert boots (essentially a chukka with a crepe rubber sole), solidifying the style’s spot in shoe history.

How to wear them: A recent resurgence in popularity has everyone from college kids to soccer dads sporting chukkas. And for good reason: It only takes a solid color shirt and straight-leg jeans with a single cuff that gently covers the boot without breaking (so the pants fall straight over the shoe in a clean line) to do these shoes justice.

The Motorcycle Boot (aka engineer boots)

The height ranges from above the ankle to below the knee, but all motorcycle boots boast a low heel in order to aid in putting the pedal to the metal, as well as heavy duty leather for protection against an unplanned meeting with the pavement. Engineer boots are the common old-school biking boot (as opposed to the tricked-out racing or motocross kinds) .

How to wear them: These days, you can flaunt a pair with all the elements of a true engineer boot without coming off like a costume. Toss them on in your downtime with a pair of black jeans, a relaxed-fit pocket tee and, of course, a leather jacket.

The Military Boot (aka combat boots)

As you might expect, boots made for the military are designed with one goal in mind: to shield you from an unfriendly environment. As a result, combat boots vary from ankle-high to under-the-knee, and are typically made from technical materials like waterproof leather, Gore-Tex and rubber. The first boots for battle were worn as early as 1000 BC. Fast forward a few thousand years, and you’ll find them on the feet of everyone from generals to teenage Gothic and grunge types.

How to wear them: Swapping traditional black boots for red ones and grunge dark denim , a vintage tee and a tailored pea coat should keep you clear of the battle field.

I love boots.
If you want to make a bold statement yet be classy flaunt a pair and wait for the ooohhs and aaahsss to follow.

Fashion is for the ones who dare to try and try to dare others.

HOW TO: Look 10 pounds lighter in your Pictures

Hi Swaggersz & Swaggstersz

Why is it that celebrities always look skinny in red carpet photos? But trust me that your average celebrity Ain't All That.
So how is it that in pictures they all appear so slim-ly terrific? More importantly, how can we look 10 pounds thinner in photos?
The secret is in the pose. (That, and the fact that they starve themselves a week before events and get sprayed by professional tanning people and wear gut-sucking Spanx and ....ok Back to the pose. Here i share five secrets that i personally use to appear 10 pounds thinner in photos. You can practice these tips in front of a mirror, but i suggest locking your door first so as not to be caught appearing vain and silly
Secret No. 1: Turn partially sideways to the camera, planting one foot in front of the other. Point your toe to the camera and place your weight on your back foot.
Secret No. 2: Pull head forward slightly to minimize any appearance of a double chin.
Secret No. 3: Hold arms slightly away from your body. This keeps upper arm flab from flattening out and therefore appearing flabbier (much like thighs do when one sits on a couch).
Secret No. 4: Pull shoulders back, chest forward and gently suck stomach in. Be careful not to suck stomach so far in that your ribs show, thereby causing those who later see the photo to SOL (Scream Out Loud) "She's sucking i-in."
Secret No. 5: If you can get away with it without looking like a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover Girl wannabe, try the look away trick. To do this, look away from the camera, then turn towards it, breaking into a smile just before the camera clicks. Your smile will appear fresh, not frozen. This trick takes practice behind closed, locked doors.
When taking a photo it's also important the photographer does not snap the picture from below. This adds another 20-50 pounds to the 10 pounds automatically and annoying added by the camera. Find out why cameras add 10 pounds in my following blog post.
More tips on looking 10 pounds thinner in photos:
Use objects you are holding to your advantage by placing them in front of parts of you you'd prefer to hide. A purse or corsage in front of your belly. A jacket slung over the shoulder.
For the ladies: Check out Spanx hosiery. The very modern version of the corset, Spanx are famous for making women all over the world appear 10 pounds thinner.
It's not just black that makes you look thinner. Wearing an entire outfit of just one color will do the trick as well, whether it be white, beige, brown, blue or red. One color tends to elongate your figure. Avoid entire outfits in pink, however, unless you are four years old or younger.
And lastly befriend a nerd/Computer freak. Photoshop can be your bestfriend LOLXD
Keep it Classy, Keep it clean. Keep it sexy, Just be how you want to be...

First Date Fashion

  For Men

Forget what everyone says about intelligence, kindness and loyalty. When it comes to first dates, the way you look is most important. Shallow? No doubt. But we’re only human. What you wear and how you groom yourself can speak volumes before you even say “hello.” Luckily, I'm here to help you put your best foot forward (literally) and prevent you from greeting your date with gnarly nails, all in the hopes that this initial encounter will end in something more than a seriously unsatisfying goodbye.

Sick kicks

It’s no secret that every woman (and, for that matter, any well-dressed gent) is pretty much obsessed with shoes. And that’s because they’re the one thing that can make or break an entire getup. Fortunately, most men know that ratty running shoes are off-limits. But those aren’t the offenders here. Rather, the culprits are clunky slip-on shoes that guys dust off for date night. It’s time to part ways and invest in a lean-lined loafer or a lace-up brogues.
For example:
From My own Collection.

A button-down shirt

No, not an oversized one with a purple paisley print and contrasting stripes on the collar and cuffs. Keep it simple with solid white, blue black, or even a stripped one with simple line, and focus on fit. Even if you’re packing some extra pounds like me, the shirt should have high armholes and be tailored through the torso.
And if the sleeves are a bother, just rolled them up like i did in this example:

Dark denim

Light jeans look either too casual, too cheap or both. Darker washes in a straight-leg cut, alternatively, lend a more luxe look to any date-night ensemble. And unless your initial encounter is at a black-tie ball, you’re guaranteed entrance just about anywhere. In short, it’s an easy option with maximum impact.

Clipped nails, coiffed hair and cologne

A good rule of thumb: Cleanliness can help you get dirty later. There’s no bigger turnoff than talon-like toenails . A clip here and a snip there should do the trick. Then polish yourself off with a spritz of cologne. Anything more would be a knockout -- and not in a good way.
A Cologne tip: "One Million By Paco Rabanne"

Deep down, I know the inside is what really counts. But if you ignore the outside, you’ll be hard-pressed to get someone past the first date to see it
.

Keep it simple, keep it classy,

Hair Removal Guide

Fact: A man’s hair is the first thing women notice. You have to have a stylish hairstyle, but the most expensive haircut in the world won’t help if you have weedlike body hair growing out of the collar of your shirt or waving at her through your nose (FYI: Nose hair isn't something just middle-aged men get -- consider yourself alerted).

I know you know that hair removal doesn’t end at shaving your face. That's why you're hesitating to pull out those muscle shirts despite how hot it is outside. However, most men still have doubts about how best to navigate body hair removal. After all, you're a man, and that just isn't a topic you bring up with, well, other men.

That's why I'm here. I focus on Three key areas to get rid of your excess body hair.

Chest

The amount, direction of growth varies from man to man, but just as with any other type of body hair, it does have the tendency to grow out of control if not maintained.

How to get rid of it:

Trim it: There's nothing wrong with sporting a little chest hair. To achieve your desired length, go for an electric clipper with various attachment sizes. The advantage of trimming is that it's painless, and it will generally take a month before hair has grown back to its original length.

Get rid of it: If you've considered shaving your chest with a razor and shaving cream (a la old fashion way), don't. Regrowth will be quick, and no man wants to be a slave to his body hair removal routine. Instead, get waxed. Contrary to popular belief, when the right wax is used (and this is certainly an argument for spending a bit more at a salon), you'll be able to survive without crying like a baby. The results of waxing will last about six weeks.

Neck Up

The back of your neck and the insides of your ears and your nose should be your No. 1 priorities when considering body hair removal, since these parts are the ones on display.

How to get rid of it: Trimming the back of your neck with an electric razor will ensure your neck hair isn't an extension of a horrendously hairy back. Alternatively, electrolysis or laser hair removal are options here: Since a small area would be the focus, it wouldn't be nearly as expensive as it would be to remove all of your chest hair, for example.

As for your ears and nose, you need to tend to the hair in these areas on a regular basis. Simply trim with an electric razor (or blade razors) when you shave in the morning.

Back

A hairy back is never OK. This is one place that should be bald -- always. It’s a nonnegotiable grooming tip. This rule also extends to the shoulder area.

How to get rid of it: Unless you have someone to shave your back every few days, you’re going to have to turn to waxing for this problem. If you have the cash (and time!) to invest in eliminating your back hair forever, electrolysis or laser hair removal are the ultimate choices.

hairy situation

Grooming unsightly body hair is part of being a neat man. But we’re not talking about going bald here (unless you absolutely want to). Women tend to not like a man with less body hair and smoother skin than them. I'm merely suggesting that you groom any grizzlylike hair that’s unnecessarily poking and prodding in unusual areas. And since you’ll be showing off more skin during these hot temperatures , you’ll be exposing your areas with problematic body hair if you don’t trim, wax or shave the problem away.

Keep it nice, keep it clean,

HOW TO: SWEATPROOF  YOUR CLOTHES

If you sweat more than most people, consider products designed to combat this problem. These grooming products include sweat block pads, which are cloths that have been presoaked in industrial-strength antiperspirant."

As larger, hairier, more muscular beings than women, men tend to sweat a lot more. While women don’t (usually) have to consider this bodily process in relation to their wardrobe, for many men, sweat and body odor is more than an unpleasant sensation -- it can actually ruin clothes. What’s the point of shelling out big bucks for a dress shirt you love if it’s going to be stained with sweat a month later?

Luckily, we’re here to help you learn how to sweatproof your clothes so that you can go ahead and buy that shirt you had your eye on and maintain your cool

Soak your clothes

If you sweat a lot during the day, learn how to wash your own shirt. Soak your dress shirt in extremely cold water as soon as you get home, and apply a stain remover to the armpits. One trick to really get stains out is to turn your shirt inside out and apply the stain remover to the inside of your shirt. This works better than applying a stain-removing product to the outside of your shirt because you’re trying to lift the stain out of the fabric, not rub it further into the fibers. Leave the product on for a few minutes and launder your shirt as soon as possible, or at least rinse it in ice cold water again. If your shirt is white, bleach it every now and again or, alternately, throw in a teaspoon of cream of tartar (available in the baking aisle at your grocery store) with your regular laundry detergent to help keep your whites white.

Remove excess body hair

Think about it: Your antiperspirant needs to come in contact with your skin in order to effectively protect against body odor and control sweating. This is a problem when your armpit hair becomes exceedingly long and, as a consequence, acts as an obstacle between the product and your skin. Take control by maintaining your body hair. We're not suggesting to join your wife at her next bikini wax appointment, but a little trimming goes a long way.

Choose the right shoes

In attempting to sweatproof your clothes, don’t wear canvas shoes as these will make your feet sweat like crazy and your shoes smell like you live in a swamp. Instead, wear leather shoes or sandals if you can, as they breathe more and, therefore, decrease foot sweat and body odor. Once you’ve purchased appropriate footwear, you’ll also need to treat them properly. Consider slipping a moisture-absorbing insole into your shoes to further reduce bacteria and odor.

Try to rotate your shoes as well so that you’re not wearing the same pair every day. Doing so gives your shoes a chance to air out, as long as you don’t bury them in the bottom of your gym bag or closet that is. Although you should avoid wearing the same shoes day after day, do change your socks daily to avoid contracting a fungal infection that thrives in moist, sweaty and bacteria-ridden conditions. Lastly, every now and again, give the inside of your shoes a quick spray with a shoe deodorizer or use an OTC foot powder to help absorb sweat.

no sweat!

Sweating is a natural process and it’s hard to stop this bodily function entirely. However, if it bothers you or you feel like perfectly decent clothes are being ruined because of it, implementing a few of these tips should go a long way to helping you keep your cool all day long.

Keep it cool,

Valdemir

Got me some new stuff.

Hey fashion lovers,

I went shopping today to get first pick at the new stuff the stores had.
My main mission was to find a bag for school and matching sneakers.
Well let me tell you, after hours and hours of searching for the perfect bag it was a complete failure.
Whenever i asked for a schoolbag they kept showing me these cartoon themed bags.
I mean come one.....do i look like a 10 year old????

So i kinda gave up on the bag and start searching for  sneakers.
I went to my favorite store where i know they sell IMPULSE sneakers.
And i was glad that i find the perfect pair.

When i got home i remembered i had a bag that i never wore because i did not have the sneakers to go with it.
Well they made a perfect combination.

So remember to look in your unused stuff and check what can work for you before you go shopping.
you might find a pleasant surprise.

Clothes are next on my list.
Wish me luck!

Back  To School Fashion: Schoolbags

Keeping on the back-to-school fashion subject I decided to look around for fashionable yet functional schoolbags.

To have a killer first day of school outfit your whole entire look has to be in harmony.
And of course a schoolbag is a must!...I mean you need to put your books, and necessities somewhere.
So I Chose a few examples what in my opinion are very stylish Schoolbags that has that fresh and funky feel but are yet appropriate for school.
But before we get to that I have a few tips before the purchase of a new schoolbag and the usage.

Buy the right size bag
According to a recent study published in Australian Spine, almost 80 per cent of students say their bag feels too heavy. That means not buying an over-large bag to save money, hoping it will last longer, but to purchase a bag that's appropriate to your size. Experts also recommend buying a backpack, rather than a bag that's carried, or slung over one shoulder, as the latter can cause back and shoulder problems.

Pack a schoolbag correctly

Try to find a bag with a few separate compartments to help with packing. That way you'll be able to position the heaviest items next to your back, slotting books and lunch boxes firmly into place, so items don't move around in transit. If they do, a badly-packed bag can shift your center of gravity and potentially cause back pain. A drink bottle holder outside the bag is a good idea to save spillage and damp school books.

Don't overload a bag
A backpack should weigh less than ten per cent of your weight, so around 5kg for a 50kg person. Seeing as that only equates to a few books and a large lunchbox, many students are carrying more weight than is healthy.
Evaluate what is the most important things to carry with you and what you can leave at home.
Or if your school has a locker put everything in there and carry what you only need for that period. You might walk allot back and forth but at least you will be avoiding back pains and unneeded stress.

So go out there and look for the best schoolbag that suits your personal style and needs.

Confidently yours,

Valdemir Valerius

What to wear...on the first day of school

Hey my swaggerpeepz,

Summer is all but over and the days are closing in for the first day of school.
The first day of school is the first appearance you have after a good while - make it a good one, because first impressions matter.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when choosing your big debut ensemb:
  • Keep things simple and classic, nothing in-your-face or over the top.
  • It's okay to be a little trendy, but you have to adapt the trends to your personal style, or you'll end up looking like a major trend-chaser.
  • Put on the confidence! If you don't have it, fake it. When you aren't doubting yourself, no one else will doubt you or your clothing choices.
Create the outfit
The idea behind a great first-day-of-school is a killer ensemble. Just make sure you can back up your outfit and will keep your dressing pattern consistent - don't wear an ultra trendy, right-off-the-runway look and then turn around and wear simple jeans & a t-shirt combo the rest of the year.

Look good, but nothing too dressy or attention-grabbing (only exception is if that's the look you're going for the whole school year!).

For the ladies,
 ·         Chic & understated: Zip Front Military Jacket ; Washed  Jeans Tote Bag ; Stripe Ruffle Shoulder blouse ; Skinny Jeans ,Red  Floral Scarf;Flat Black.
If you want to tone it down, remove the scarf and roll up the  sleeves of the jacket for a more effortless look.

And for the guys with swagger I present to you a new take on hoodies.
Black cotton made hoodie; White T-shirt; Brown leather belt; and dark wash jeans.
For you as well if you would like to tone it down remove the white t-shirt and roll up the sleeves of the hoodie.
As for shoes i would suggest denim Impulse high tops.
I personally have these in my high tops collection and they are AMAZING. Perfect if you want to pull some extra attention and have all eyes on you.

Important stuff
Your school necessities should be funky and fresh, just like your style.
Search for cool versions of old classics
Check  office supply stores for stylish paper and pens, notebooks, agenda’s etc.
Remember to always be unique and color coordinate or set a theme for your school necessities.

The rest of the week
Okay, so you get the first day over with while wearing a completely amazing outfit. But now you have the rest of the week to worry about!
Make a point that you don't get all dressy  the first day, and then every other day wear simple and frumpy.
I suggest that the whole week (although I normally plan the entire month, yeah, it's an obsession!) is planned out in outfits.  That way you can focus on what school is really about - homework and important stuff  (don't forget friends, socializing.).

Confidence is the most important piece of fashion.
Wear it GOOD!
